With another Premier League season looking like it will be ending in disappointment, Arsenal attention is already focusing to the next transfer window.
And it is already clear that if the Gunners are to successfully challenge for the league title next time, then a radical overhaul of the squad is needed.
However, their recruitment plans may already be hindered because of their lack of a permanent Spirting Director since Edu dramatically left the job in September. Jason Ayto has been dong the job on a temporary basis since then, but it is not clear if he will be offered the role full-time. At the same time, a firm of consultants has been hired to interview prospective internal candidates.
There is little time to lose to resolve this position. Agents of players who they might want to bring ot the club need to know who they are negotiating with,, whilst there are a number of crucial contract extension negotiations that need to be prioritised as well.
