Things have not gone as well as the Portuguese may have liked since he took charge of the Red Devils in November.

Manchester United’s squad are becoming increasingly ‘frustrated’ with head coach Ruben Amorim, with a source suggesting that he has ‘bonded’ with just two players since he arrived at the club in November.

Amorim, 40, has overseen a poor run of form since he joined United from Sporting CP almost four months ago.

His side currently sit 14th in the Premier League with a record of five wins, three draws, and eight losses in 16 league games since the Portuguese joined.

Aside from United’s lack of success on the pitch, there are arguably bigger problems at the club.

As reported by BBC Sport on Monday, the club will make up to 200 jobs redundant as a way of “returning the club to profitability” to add to around 250 job losses at the club in 2024.

When asked about the situation, Amorim explained how his players are partly to blame for the financial state of the club which he says “has a lot to do with the lack of success of the football team”.

According to The Sun, his claims have ‘angered’ some of his players.

A source explained: “If you went into Carrington, you would think the players and Amorim are getting on great.

“But the truth is the players are frustrated for being blamed for the financial problems of the club.

“However, they haven’t challenged the manager as they haven’t yet formed a bond with him.

“He is clear in what he wants from them on the pitch, and they are trying to implement it.

“But while some of them are fully behind his tactics, they feel that they cannot speak up as Amorim is steadfast in what he wants.

“They are doing what they are told, whether they think its right or not…the players feel like they can’t show any displeasure or it will become a problem.”

The source insisted that Amad Diallo and captain Bruno Fernandes were an important bridge between Amorim and the rest of the squad.

United scraped past relegation-threatened Ipswich Town with a 3-2 victory at Old Trafford on Wednesday and will return to action when they play host to Fulham in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Sunday.
