The 26-year-old has been performing sensationally well for the Portugal side and is currently also one of the best players in the league. Given that Amorim is a former Sporting CP manager, the links with Goncalves are also strong.

He is an attacking midfielder with exceptional qualities. Goncalves possesses tactical intelligence with clinical finishing, thriving in advanced roles or as a winger. His creativity shines through precise passing and key playmaking, often unlocking defenses with vision.

Goncalves excels in box movement, positioning himself to score. His dribbling and ball-carrying skills enhance his flair, while his press resistance ensures composure under pressure. Defensively, he contributes with recoveries and duels, showcasing versatility. Though injuries have tested him, his technical brilliance marks him as a game-changer. Therefore, he will definitely be a handy option for United given that they are in need of a versatile attacker.

Moreover, Goncalves’s total G/A (goals + assists) is 8 for this season. His goal involvement equates to 1.23 per 90 minutes. His non-penalty xG per 90 minutes is 0.52. This puts Goncalves’s npxG output at 2.85.

Looking into his passing aspect of the game, Goncalves passes the ball roughly 34.80 times during a game with a pass completion rate of 78.53%. He also plays 5.83 key passes each game. Overall, Goncalves’s xA (expected assists) output is 0.70 per 90 minutes.

He has been in stunning form for Sporting and will definitely strengthen the playing XI of Manchester United. However, a number of elite clubs are interested in him given his quality and his current form. Now, it remains to be seen if Amorim can convince him and Sporting CP to let him leave for Old Trafford.
