Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler made his loyalty to Anfield clear when he refused to sign a young fan’s Manchester United shirt during a golf tournament in Bangkok.
Fowler was competing for Team England in the Ringwood Icons of Football match-play event when he politely declined the request, instead signing other memorabilia.
The 49-year-old forward had two notable stints at Liverpool, first between 1993-2001 and later from 2006-2007. During his time at Anfield, Fowler won an FA Cup, two League Cups, the UEFA Cup, and the Super Cup. In total, he scored 183 goals in 369 appearances.
Affectionately called ‘God’ by Liverpool supporters, Fowler enjoyed playing the Red Devils scoring six goals against United in his career.
The rivalry between Liverpool and United remains as fierce as ever, even with United’s decline in recent years.
He took the time to sign autographs for a row of spectators but when he spotted a youngster holding the United shirt, he didn’t hesitate to move on. Despite briefly glancing back, he didn’t return.
Earlier in the tournament, Fowler came close to hitting a hole-in-one on the 170-yard 12th hole, nearly winning an £8 million ($10M) jackpot. His stunning shot was cheered on by teammates Paul Ince, Carlos Tevez, and Gabriel Batistuta.

The $10 million prize was meant to be shared among players, spectators, and charities, but Fowler’s near hole-in-one fell just short, missing the cup by inches.
“I”m not going to lie, I was bottling it when I hit the shot” said Fowler. “I think Incy has already spent the money! He was more excited than me. I’m happy, very happy.”
Each of the 24 competitors had a chance to win the staggering reward with a hole-in-one. Despite Fowler’s near miss, Team England triumphed in the competition, finishing with a commanding 72-33 victory.
