Tottenham youngster Yang Min-hyeok is already providing plenty of reason for excitement just six games into his loan spell at Queens Park Rangers.

Ange Postecoglou seemingly determined that Min-hyeok wasn’t quite ready to help Tottenham after he arrived from Gangwon FC in January, an 18-year-old with no prior experience in Europe.

Before arriving in England, Min-hyeok has made 38 appearances for Gangwon’s first team, scoring an impressive 12 goals and providing six assists in those games.

However, stepping up to Spurs’ faltering Premier League campaign would have been a huge ask for the youngster.

Of course, joining QPR in the Championship is no easy task either, but the young winger seems to be responding to the challenge very well.

Local media have been raving about Min-hyeok at QPR already, who made his second start for the club in their 2-1 defeat to Sheffield United last weekend.

And despite losing, the South Korean provided a reason to be positive at Loftus Road, something manager Marti Cifuentes spoke about after the game.

Via journalist Toby Bryant who posted the comments on X, Cifuentes said that Min-hyeok was ‘improving’ a lot at the club already.

The Spaniard praised the Tottenham loanee’s attitude as well, hailing him as a ‘dangerous’ young talent.

Cifuentes said: “He’s progressing, doing well. The last two games at home especially he did well. The impact from the bench against Portsmouth was very positive.

“He’s growing, learning our way of playing and the pace of the game. He’s doing good things and is still a young lad that needs to keep learning and improving some areas.

“His attitude is top. He is dangerous and has the pace to go forward, get in behind and go one vs one.”

QPR head coach Marti Cifuentes on Yang Min-hyeok: “He’s progressing, doing well. The last two games at home especially he did well. The impact from the bench against Portsmouth was very positive. (1/2)

Ange Postecoglou will assess Yang Min-hyeok in pre-season

Of course, the big question in the summer will be whether there’s actually space in Spurs’ squad for Min-hyeok to continue to progress.

Although the likes of Timo Werner will be leaving, and possibly even Richarlison, Tottenham have so many options up top when all are fit.

Postecoglou will assess Min-hyeok in pre-season according to reports, meaning his next few months at QPR could still make a big difference.

But Min-hyeok does have the uneviable task of getting past Mikey Moore too, who’s already right on the cusp of regular first team minutes.

Either way, it’s a positive situation for the club and Min-hyeok, an excellent young talent who deserves credit for starting so well in the Championship.
