As a forward, Mathys Tel would have loved his experience playing alongside Harry Kane and Sadio Mane at Bayern Munich.
Kane is one of the best strikers in the world and to watch how he finishes up close would have been an incredible learning experience for the Tottenham goalscorer.
In Kane, it seems like Tel also had a senior player who had huge faith in his talent.
Kane predicted Tel to succeed at Tottenham when his loan move was confirmed. Kane described Tel as a “great young player” as well.
As for Mane, he is one of the best wingers of his generation and to study how the former Liverpool wideman would take on players, score goals and make runs in behind defences would have helped Mathys Tel improve his own game.
Mathys Tel suggests Sadio Mane was better than Harry Kane at Bayern Munich
Mane and Kane were both key players at Bayern Munich when Tel played alongside them.
But the pertinent question is which out of the two was better.
Harry Kane is traditional centre-forward while Sadio Mane has played most of his career out on the left-wing.
But Mathys Tel named Mane as the best player he has ever played with, suggesting that he was even better than Kane when he was at Bayern — lauding the Senegalese international’s incredible work ethic.
Tel told TNT Sports: “There are a lot of players but Sadio Mane was the best. His work, every day, hard, after the training, hard, before, after the game. So, he’s an example for me.”
Harry Kane vs Sadio Mane stats compared at Bayern Munich
Mane spent just a season at Bayern before jetting off to Saudi Arabia to play for Al-Nassr.
In terms of winning trophies, the revered forward would have been delighted to win the Bundesliga — which was the third league title he won in his career.
But since Mane spent just one season at Bayern, it would be fair to compare his sole campaign with Kane’s last season.
STATS | HARRY KANE’S FIRST SEASON AT BAYERN | SADIO MANE’S ONLY SEASON AT BAYERN |
GOALS | 32 | 12 |
ASSISTS | 5 | 6 |
Kane scored more than double (32) of Mane’s goals (12) in all competitions but the latter provided one more assist. However, the Reds legend had suffered a decline in his game while the Englishman’s first season at Bayern was one for the ages.
However, perhaps the reason why Tel seems to prefer Mane to Kane is because the former is a quick, technically gifted and tricky customer like he is.
