Four years after he left the club, Chelsea are facing legal action in the High Court in London over the sale of defender Kurt Zouma to West Ham.
Zouma’s agent Saif Rubie has initiated the action, claiming that he is entitled to a share of the ₤29.1 million that Chelsea received from their London neighbours for the French international.
The action is specifically aimed at former Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia, who was in charte of all Chelsea’s transfer dealings at the time.
Rubie’s argument is that he was entitled to up to 10% of the transfer fee.
The case is complicated by the fact that Granovskaia, who had been a key figure at the club whilst it was owned by Roman Abramovich, is no longer an “FA participant” which is one of the basis of rhe legal dispute. However, Rubie’s legal team have argued that this should remain within the court system, as opposed to the case being hard by an FA commission.
Zouma is currently playing in the Saudi Pro League for Al Orobah, on loan from West Ham.
