Recent reports have emerged that Hansi Flick is not completely sold on Neymar joining the current Barcelona team—now, the German coach Hansi Flick has finally addressed the matter. There has been a lot of talk about Neymar’s possible return to the Blaugrana, and many wonder whether the Brazilian superstar could make a dramatic comeback to the club where he once flourished. However, financial constraints, concerns over his fitness, and doubts about his compatibility with Flick’s vision for the team have reportedly thrown a shadow over the possibility of his return.

Neymar has been enjoying a promising spell since his return to Santos, where he has recorded three goals and three assists in 9 matches. His contract with the Brazilian side runs for only six months, and the forward has hinted that a move back to Europe could be on the horizon.

The player’s agent Pini Zahavi is said to have already initiated discussions with the club’s hierarchy to explore the feasibility of a transfer. However, doubts have emerged regarding whether the Catalan club is prepared to accommodate the return of their former talisman.

While the 33-year-old remains eager to make a comeback, Hansi Flick is reportedly not in favor of re-signing the Brazilian. Sport says the Barca coach has significant reservations regarding the veteran’s age, physical condition, and ability to fit into his high-intensity system. The German tactician favors a dynamic, energetic squad and prioritizes developing young players, which contrasts with Neymar’s style of play.

Financial factors further complicate the situation. The Blaugrana is already struggling with La Liga’s Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations, making it difficult to sanction high-profile signings. Even though Neymar could theoretically return on a free transfer with a reduced salary, the club’s focus remains on long-term squad building, particularly finding a successor for Robert Lewandowski.

What does the Barcelona locker room reportedly think?

Despite Flick’s concerns, Neymar’s potential arrival is still a topic of debate within Barcelona. Some club officials and players reportedly view his return as an opportunity to boost the team’s commercial appeal and jersey sales.

What’s more, the atmosphere within the dressing room seems rather positive. Despite concerns about Neymar potentially hindering younger players’ development, the Barcelona squad is supposedly open to his return.

Experienced players like Robert Lewandowski and Wojciech Szczesny have set a strong leadership example, leading the club to see Neymar having a similar impact if he returns. Young players like Lamine Yamal are reportedly enthusiastic about the idea of playing alongside Neymar, whom they idolize.

What did Hansi Flick say about Neymar?

Ahead of Barcelona’s crucial away UEFA Champions League clash against Benfica, Hansi Flick was finally asked about the growing rumors regarding Neymar’s possible return.

His response suggests that while discussions about the Brazilian’s return may be ongoing, the German manager is leaving the decision to the club’s hierarchy. “Neymar’s return? That’s not my job. I am completely focused on the games. Signings are the job of other positions in the club, not mine.”
