James Trafford is doing a great job

James Trafford started his career at Manchester City but failed to establish himself there. Hence, he moved to Burnley in the summer of 2023. Since then, he has improved a lot on his skills and has attracted eyeballs from multiple clubs.

Trafford is enjoying a great time between the sticks in the ongoing season so far. In 33 apperances, he has managed to keep 24 clean sheet while conceeding only nine goals.

The English goalkeeper started his career as a midfielder before donning the gloves. He is known for his quick reflexes and strong hands. His distribution skills and penalty saving abilities are also well appreciated by many.

Nick Pope can leave in the summer

Nick Pope has unfortunately struggled with injuries in the 2024-25 season. With only one year left on his contract, Newcastle United believe it’s the right time to let him go. The goalkeeper is already 32-year-old and is going to slow down with time.

The Magpies are willing to part ways with their veteran for around £10-15 million. Pope could be a valuable fit for many clubs given his quality and experience. However, it remains to be seen if any club will be ready to offer that much or not.

On the flip side, James Trafford has shown that he has all the qualities to play for a top-tier club. He can be a long-term solution for Newcastle United. The 22-year-old will surely fancy the opportunity of moving to the Magpies if it arrives in the summer.
