Report: Andrea Berta could make ‘one of the best wingers in Europe’ his first signing at Arsenal in £29m deal

Arsenal are widely expected to bolster their attack this summer.

Injuries to Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus have left Mikel Arteta with a threadbare attack, relying on Leandro Trossard and Raheem Sterling, as well as the 17-year-old Ethan Nwaneri.

Arsenal are close to hiring Andrea Berta as a replacement for Edu Gaspar in the Sporting Director role – a man who should be able to help lure some top talent to N5, having previously signed the likes of Antoine Griezmann and Rodri for Atletico Madrid.

Now – according to Bild – the Italian could make Kingsley Coman one of his first signings at Arsenal.

Arsenal want Kingsley Coman

The German news outlet are now claiming that Arsenal are ‘hot’ on the tail of the Frenchman – who Bayern Munich are willing to sell this summer in order to balance their finances.

Bild state that the Bavarians previously wanted €70m (£58m) for Coman in April 2024 – but having received no interest at that price, the fee has now dropped to around €35m (£29m).

The report adds that Arteta is particularly keen to sign a new winger – and has the France international on his shortlist at the Emirates Stadium.

Coman has scored six goals and provided four assists in 32 appearances across all competitions so far this season.

Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta could bring “one of the best wingers in Europe” to Arsenal

If Berta – who ignored AC Milan to speak to Arsenal – can pull this deal off alongside Arteta, it would be a very exciting move for a player of real pedigree.

Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann has called Coman “one of the best wingers in Europe” – having worked with the Parisian at the Allianz Arena.

The German said: “For me he is one of the best wingers in Europe. When he is fit, he’ll always help us. He has unbelievable acceleration.”

Capable of playing on either flank, signing Coman – who is still only 28 – would be a fantastic move for Arsenal, who also like Jonathan David, in terms of providing quality depth to the frontline.
