Championship promotion hopefuls Burnley will travel to the Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday to take on Cardiff City.

The Bluebirds are fifth last in 20th place with just 36 points but managed to beat relegation rivals Hull City 1-0 on February 25, while the Clarets are third in the table with 68 points and emerged as 4-0 victors against Sheffield Wednesday on February 21.

We say: Cardiff City 0-1 Burnley

Cardiff are likely to be difficult to beat considering their strong record at home, and Tuesday’s game may be low scoring.

Burnley will want to bounce back from their disappointing defeat against Preston, and if they find the back of the net first, it would be surprising if they lost their lead given their defensive performances in recent months.

Separated by just two places and three points in the lower echelons of the Championship standings, relegation-battling Hull City and Plymouth Argyle scrap it out at the MKM Stadium on Tuesday night.

Miron Muslic’s men will draw level with their hosts with victory in the midweek matchup, although the Tigers’ significantly superior goal difference means that the visitors should remain below the dotted line no matter what.

We say: Hull City 1-1 Plymouth Argyle

Plymouth should have made the long journey south from Manchester with their heads held high, but the visitors still cannot buy a win on the road in the second tier, while the Tigers’ shocking home record speaks for itself.

Selles’s men will at least boast the fresher legs, but if Muslic’s men can replicate their defensive sturdiness from Saturday – at least from the first half – they will be more than good enough for a point.

Tuesday’s clash between hosts Millwall and visitors Bristol City at the Den could have significant ramifications on the race for promotion from the Championship.

Millwall are 12th with 45 points and though they are seven points and six places from the promotion playoff spots, they boast a game in hand on five of the top six, while Bristol City are ninth with 49 points and beat Middlesbrough 2-1 on February 21.

We say: Millwall 2-2 Bristol City

Millwall have not been particularly strong at home, though they have been difficult to beat in the past weeks.

Bristol City will almost certainly have to win if they have ambitions of promotion, but their poor form on the road could cost them all three points on Tuesday.

Preston North End will hope to maintain their slim hopes of securing a promotion playoff spot alive when they host Swansea City on Tuesday at Deepdale in the Championship.

The home side are 15th in the table with 42 points and are 10 points and nine places from a playoff spot, but they do boast a game in hand on sixth-placed West Bromwich Albion, while Swansea are 16th with 40 points and beat Blackburn Rovers 3-0 on February 22.

We say: Preston North End 2-1 Swansea City

Swansea will come into the match full of confidence following their win under interim head coach Sheehan, and they may even take the lead.

However, it would be surprising if they emerged victorious given their poor away record, and Preston should be seen as favourites considering their strong form at home.
