Alisson rates his own performance with bold claim after Liverpool beat PSG

Alisson said that his performance in Liverpool’s win away to Paris Saint-Germain was perhaps the best of his career.

The Brazilian goalkeeper was the Reds’ standout player on Wednesday night as the French side failed to score despite registering 27 shots in the match, 10 of which were on target.

After surviving the PSG onslaught which lasted for the majority of the game, Liverpool went up to the other end of the pitch and grabbed a winning goal in the closing stages through Harvey Elliott.

Although Elliott was ultimately the match-winner, Liverpool would probably have lost had any other goalkeeper in the world been between the sticks for the Reds in the Parc des Princes.

“It was probably the performance of my life,” Alisson told TNT Sports after the match. “The manager was telling us how hard it would be to play against PSG, how good they are with the ball and that we would have to be ready to suffer. We knew what was coming.

“We worked hard. We gave away so many chances, sometimes one v one but the biggest part of the chase is having someone make the player with the chance think a bit more. All the efforts the team put in makes my job easier. Then at the end Harvey [Elliott] coming in and scoring the goal, it is a great story for us. A great night.”

Arne Slot praised Alisson in his post-match interview with TNT Sports, saying of him: “He’s the best in the world. I’ve had some very good players as a manager but I’ve never had the best goalkeeper in the world, but that’s what he is.

“To go away with a win over here was probably a bit more than we deserved. He was outstanding, in the second half I think most of their shots was outside the box. It’s their quality that they hit the ball like they do.”
