Exclusive: Pep Guardiola sets his sights on Aston Villa’s ‘special’ player, Man City would have to pay £50m

TBR Football understands that Manchester City have become the latest club to show an interest in Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey.

The 23-year-old has been one of the stand-out performers under Unai Emery this season, who are going strong in the Champions League and Premier League.

Emery has used Ramsey extensively and he is understood to be under consideration for Thomas Tuchel’s first England squad.

Ramsey was linked with a move away from Villa last summer as one of the players that could raise funds to help them meet PSR regulations as he represents pure profit as he is homegrown.

TBR Football has been told that the Champions League club value Ramsey at in excess of £50 million.

Sources have confirmed to Graeme Bailey – chief correspondent at TBR Football that Manchester City have been following Jacob Ramsey closely and have been hugely impressed with his progress.

Chelsea looked at Ramsey last summer and retain an interest in the player despite landing Pedro Neto and have Estevao Willian coming in.

Arsenal are another club who have shown an interest in Ramsey, highlighting just how highly regarded he is by other Premier League clubs.

City for their part are ready to make changes to their squad this summer with Kevin De Bruyne likely to leave for the MLS, meanwhile, James Mctee and Bernardo Silva are also potential departures.

There is also Jack Grealish – the last big arrival at City from Villa, and his future at the Etihad is far from certain and a return to Villa Park has been suggested as a possible avenue for him.

Ramsey, who has been labelled ‘very special’, could be a really underrated signing for Pep Guardiola if he could pull off a potential deal.

As mentioned, the 23-year-old has been great for Unai Emery this season, however, his performances seem to have gone under the radar.

The midfielder has three goals and four assists in 31 matches for Villa this season.
