Despite Liverpool’s impressive debut season under Arne Slot, the club is always keeping an eye on the future, particularly when it comes to transfers.
The Reds had a subdued summer last year, with Federico Chiesa being the sole new addition to the squad. Giorgi Mamardashvili will join Liverpool at the end of the season after agreeing to a deal from Valencia last summer.
Despite ongoing rumors suggesting more activity, the Reds refrained from making any new signings in January. However, this is likely to change when the transfer window reopens in the summer, especially given some of the recent speculation.
Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez has once again been identified as a potential target for Liverpool at the end of the season. Fabrizio Romano has reported that Liverpool is keeping tabs on Kerkez ahead of the summer transfer window as it seeks to sign a new left-back – and that the Hungarian is expected to leave and try a new challenge.
This isn’t the first time that Kerkez has been linked with the Reds, and he would likely be a first-choice option at left-back if he were to move to Anfield. Liverpool currently has Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas as its left-back options in the squad.
Kerkez’s arrival could cast doubt over the futures of both players, with the Bournemouth star likely being signed to be a regular starter. The rest of the squad’s composition may hinge on Liverpool’s other transfer dealings. If Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold all agree to new contracts, they will undoubtedly be in the starting lineup. If not, it’s uncertain who the club will target as their replacements.
Slot has frequently shuffled his attacking options, particularly in the striker position. Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota have all taken up the role this season, and it’s yet to be determined whether Liverpool will aim to sign a new striker in the summer, as well as a left-back.
