Joshua Kimmich receives clear transfer advice after Liverpool and Arsenal links

Joshua Kimmich has been advised to snub Premier League advances and remain at Bayern Munich after links over a move to Liverpool. The 30 year old German international, who rose through the ranks at Stuttgart before joining Bayern in 2015, is facing a contract dilemma as his current deal expires this summer.

Despite winning numerous Bundesliga titles and the Champions League with Bayern, Kimmich hasn’t yet reached an agreement on a new contract, sparking interest from the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, and Real Madrid. However, Bayern legend Lothar Matthaus insists that Kimmich should stay put.

Writing for Sky in Germany, Matthaus stated: “At Bayern, the pending contract extension with Joshua Kimmich is currently the biggest problem. Kimmich has to make a decision.

“There is no more grey, only black or white. He has been given time but at some point patience runs out. Both sides have lawyers who can write a contract down to the smallest detail within a week.

“Since I have known Bayern, they have rarely waited as long for players as they have now for Kimmich. Now the time has come to make a decision.

“I don’t know what Kimmich is still waiting for, what little details are involved. There is no other club that can offer him better prospects than Bayern.”

Meanwhile, Kimmich has been out of action for just shy of two weeks following an injury sustained in Bayern’s Bundesliga victory over Eintracht Frankfurt last month.

The diagnosis was tendonitis, but manager Vincent Kompany has dropped hints that the midfield maestro might make a timely return against Bayer Leverkusen in the upcoming Champions League round of 16 clash.

It is unclear if Liverpool would pursue a move for Kimmich given his age, although he could be a short-term replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, should the full-back depart this summer.

Alexander-Arnold is out of contract at the end of the season and is yet to sign an extension, with Real Madrid continuing its interest in signing him on a free transfer. Liverpool is looking to tie Conor Bradley down to a new long-term deal but may well seek another option at full back.
