Jamie Carragher deems Liverpool win over PSG ‘one of the biggest robberies you will ever see in football’Arne Slot’s big Alisson post-match claim

Arne Slot’s Reds managed to leave the Parc des Princes with a 1-0 win against all odds, considering how dominant PSG were in Tuesday’s last 16 first leg.

Liverpool withstood 27 shots from PSG, 10 of which were on target, and had just 29.5 percent possession to the hosts’ 70.5 percent.

However, PSG had the bad luck to be up against an Alisson Becker in the form of his life.

And at the other end, their defence struggled to cope with Darwin Nunez, the ‘agent of chaos’ who set up Harvey Elliott for the winner.

Jamie Carragher, speaking after the Champions League game, made a brutally honest admission about Liverpool along with giving his verdict on Alisson’s display.

Jamie Carragher deems Liverpool win over PSG ‘one of the biggest robberies you will ever see in football’

Carragher described Liverpool’s win over PSG as “one of the biggest robberies you will ever see in football”.

He also said Alisson’s display was “arguably the greatest performance of his career” and added that the Reds “have a good chance” of winning the Champions League.

“Got away with it? That’s one of the biggest robberies you will ever see in football, that,” Carragher said on CBS Sports.

“I can’t believe what I’ve just seen. PSG were absolutely outstanding and battered Liverpool.

“The last time Liverpool won this competition, Alisson Becker made a save against Napoli in the last group game of the group stage.

“Liverpool could have gone out had Napoli had scored. That is always looked back on as a defining moment.

“That wasn’t a save tonight. That was arguably the greatest performance of his career, certainly in a Liverpool shirt.

“And if Liverpool go on to win this competition – which they have a good chance of, they’re a lot better than what we saw tonight – then that performance will be remembered for years to come.”

Arne Slot’s big Alisson post-match claim

After the game, Liverpool boss Arne Slot admitted that he has never worked with a goalkeeper like Alisson during his career.

Slot told TNT Sports: “No, I don’t think I’ve ever worked with a goalkeeper that has played at this level, which is normal because he’s the best in the world.”

“So, I had some very good players as a manager but never the best goalkeeper in the world and that I think he is, he showed that today.”

Meanwhile, former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock described Alisson as “exceptional” against PSG, and said he’s the kind of player who wins teams trophies.

Liverpool are truly lucky to have a goalkeeper of Alisson’s calibre in their ranks.
