Joshua Kimmich has shed light on his situation at Bayern Munich as he approaches the final stretch of his current contract. The 30 year old’s contract is set to expire this summer, and despite an offer from Bayern for an extension, there hasn’t been a breakthrough in negotiations.
Amidst this uncertainty, Liverpool has been linked with the German international, alongside Arsenal and other clubs. Following Bayern’s 3-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen in their Champions League last-16 first leg, Kimmich revealed: “My plan was to make my decision before the international break.
“The club didn’t want that, which is legitimate. I appreciate that they gave me a lot of time. It was important to get off to a good start this season after a difficult last season and build a relationship with each other again.
“The club now wanted to have a decision before the two games against Leverkusen. For me the injury complicated things a bit, without going into details. But there will be a decision soon.
“I don’t know if it will be between both legs [against Leverkusen], but it will definitely be before the international break at the latest” When probed about the influence of other clubs on his decision, Kimmich responded succinctly: “Yes.”

Sporting director Max Eberl didn’t hold back on the topic of Kimmich’s future following Bayern Munich’s 3-1 triumph over Stuttgart last Friday. He stated to the press: “If the truth is out there in public, then that’s how it is. Generally, no one is above the club.
“If a player decides differently, then he decides differently. Then things will continue at FC Bayern. There were great players here at FC Bayern who eventually had to leave the club because they couldn’t reach an agreement and their contracts ran out. Then it all just keeps happening. But we are not at that point. That was speaking very generally.”
