A 2-0 win over Cardiff City in the fifth round of the FA Cup and then a 3-1 result against Club Brugge in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16. Aston Villa are peaking at the right time and are fighting for multiple trophies.

However, things aren’t the same in the domestic league as the Villans are 10th on the points table. They will next lock horns with Brentford in an away package this weekend. Unai Emery’s side would want to clinch a win before going into important clashes next week.

Defence

Emiliano Martinez made an important save in the dying minutes to keep a clean sheet. He will be donning the gloves as usual. While Matty Cash takes onto the field as the right-back, Ian Maatsen should be called up to take the left full-back position.

Axel Disasi, who was used as the left-back in the previous game, could be used as centre-back alongside Ezri Konsa. It means that Tyrone Mings and Lucas Digne will have to warm the bench.

Midfield

The midfield duo of John McGinn and Youri Tielemans has worked quite well for Unai Emery in recent times. He will hesitate to alter anyone in the middle of the park for this game.

Attack

Marco Asensio might find his name on the starting XI list this weekend. He could be operating on the right flank with Morgan Rogers taking the load of the centre areas. Jacob Ramsey should be providing his services from the left wing with Ollie Watkins being the striker and leading the offensive line.

Unfortunately, Marcus Rashford will have to bench the bench but can come in the latter stages of the game.

The Villans have only two absentees in the form of Ross Barkley (knee) and Amadou Onana (thigh).
