Robin van Persie is one of just three players to have played for both Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger at Manchester United and Arsenal.

Manchester United and Arsenal are massive rivals, but a handful of players have played for both teams during the Fergie and Wenger eras.

Van Persie, Mickael Silvestre and Danny Welbeck are the only players who have played under the two Premier League greats.

Speaking to ESPN, Robin van Persie has been asked which manager he preferred, Fergie or Wenger.

Of course, Van Persie only played one season under Alex Ferguson, but he won a league title under the Scot at Manchester United.

Ferguson apologised for signing Van Persie at the end of that season due to the fact he was retiring just a year after bringning the Dutchman to Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, Wenger worked with Van Persie for the best part of a decade and helped him become one of the best strikers in the world.

“Definitely, both,” Van Persie said.

Van Persie record under Fergie and Wenger compared

Van Persie says that he couldn’t pick between Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger, but the stats show who he played the better football under.

Indeed, Van Persie was at his very best in that single season he spent under Ferguson at Manchester United, and the numbers show it.

Of course, Van Persie headed to United off the back of winning a Premier League Golden Boot, and the groundwork was laid by Wenger to make Van Persie a superstar.

However, when a manager helps you score 30 goals in a season and delivers a league title, you have to pay homage to that manager.

Ferguson and Wenger are undoubtedly two of the greatest managers to ever grace the Premier League, and regardless of who is better, Van Persie acknowledges that he was lucky to work alongside both men.
