Liverpool managed to escape Paris with a 1-0 win on Wednesday evening in what was an incredible smash-and-grab performance.

Alisson Becker was Man of the Match without a doubt against PSG, and Liverpool were very fortunate to come away with a win.

Harvey Elliott’s late goal will live long in the memory, but, overall, this was an uncharacteristically disjointed performance in the Champions League from Arne Slot’s side.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, Gabriel Agbonlahor has been reviewing Liverpool’s performance in this game, and according to the pundit, Ryan Gravenberch really wasn’t at the races.

Indeed, Agbonlahor claimed that Gravenberch actually had the worst game he’s ever seen him have for Liverpool.

Ryan Gravenberch had his worst game for Liverpool

Gravenberch has been praised so much this season for his commanding midfield performances.

However, after his showing against PSG, Agbonlahor criticised the Dutchman, claiming that this was the worst game he’s seen him have.

“Liverpool couldn’t get going. Salah was man marked out of the game, Jota and Diaz were poor, in the midfield, that’s probably the worst game I’ve seen Gravenberch have as well, Szoboszlai and Mac Allister couldn’t get anywhere near the phenomenal midfield of PSG,” Agbonlahor said.

Agbnolahor says that this was Gravenberch’s worst performance for Liverpool, and he’s not too far wrong.

Indeed, while Gravenberch has been brilliant this season, he wasn’t at his best on Wednesday.

The stats show exactly where Gravenberch fell short against PSG.

Tackles 3
Interceptions 2
Pass success rate 69%
Unsuccessful touches 3
Key passes 0

Three tackles and two interceptions isn’t a terrible return for Gravenberch, but three unsuccessful touches and a 69% pass accuracy is worrying.

Gravenberch is meant to be the controller in the Liverpool midfield, but when he’s misplacing over 30% of his passes, the team have no chance to build any attacks or keep any pressure on PSG.

Gravenberch wasn’t good against PSG, but, luckily for the midfielder, that performance doesn’t matter all that much as Liverpool will take a 1-0 lead into the second leg.

The Reds need to be better in the return fixture, because PSG will head to Anfield with a serious score to settle after what was a bizarre match where the winners were utterly dominated.
