Liverpool have a number of players who don’t quite get the recognition they deserve.

Indeed, there are a fair few players at Liverpool who could be considered underrated.

Curtis Jones is the most underrated player at Liverpool according to Cody Gakpo, while Alexis Mac Allister holds that title according to Glen Johnson.

Even Mohamed Salah has been described as underrated at times.

Liverpool beat PSG 1-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday evening, and the clear Man of the Match on the day was Alisson Becker.

Alisson was incredible against PSG, and speaking to TNT Sports Brazil after the game, the goalkeeper said that he hopes he gets more respect and recognition after this performance.

Indeed, Alisson has been disrespected in recent years according to John Achterberg after the goalkeeper has been consistently snubbed for the Yashin Award, but now, the Brazilian has claimed that he wants more recognition.

Alisson wants more recognition

The £67m goalkeeper spoke about his performance against PSG.

The South American says that he wants to be respected more after this showing, claiming that while he does feel appreciated by his club and his fans, he wants the wider footballing world to recognise his ability.

“I hope it’s the type of performance that will spark a debate, do you feel that you deserve more respect from some people?” Alisson was asked.

“Oh, I’d like to know that. We like recognition right? Maybe it’s not so much respect like this. I think that when we say ‘you have to respect me.’ It’s a little arrogant right, but a bit more recognition would be good,” Alisson said.

“I understand that criticism is part of football, and I listen to it right. I bring it to myself, but when there are exaggerations and personal tones I don’t even care. After all, I feel the appreciation here at the club.”

Alisson was fantastic in Paris, and the numbers showcase just how good he was.
