TBR Football can exclusively confirm that Aston Villa, Everton, Brighton & Hove Albion and Crystal Palace are all in pursuit of one of the best defenders currently playing in the Scottish Premiership.
Aston Villa and Brighton are both pushing for a European finish this season, while Crystal Palace will hope to finish in the top half of the Premier League table.
Meanwhile, Everton have turned a corner under David Moyes and look likely to survive the drop ahead of their switch from Goodison Park to Bramley-Moore Dock.
All four clubs could well be exciting propositions in the summer market for a defender who has won nine trophies – including an international accolade – this decade alone.
Aston Villa, Everton, Brighton & Hove Albion and Crystal Palace eyeing Cameron Carter-Vickers
TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that a number of Premier League clubs are interested in bringing Celtic star Cameron Carter-Vickers back to England.
The American star has enjoyed a brilliant campaign at Celtic under Brendan Rodgers, playing a starring role in their run to the last 32 of the Champions League.
Carter-Vickers was a target for Ipswich Town in the summer, but they could not strike a deal.
Now TBR Football can reveal that there is increasing interest in the 27-year-old.
We understand that Aston Villa, Brighton, Everton and Crystal Palace are amongst the sides to have watched Carter-Vickers in recent months.
It is also believed that Major League Soccer would be open to bringing in Carter-Vickers ahead of his being a key member of their US World Cup squad in 2026.
Cameron Carter-Vickers factfile
Carter-Vickers joined the Tottenham academy in 2009 aged 11 and was on their books for 13 years as he rose through the academy ranks to reach the fringes of their first team.
The United States international spent most of his time at Spurs out on loan, though he did manage to make five competitive appearances for the Lilywhites.
Tottenham sold Carter-Vickers to Celtic in 2022 for a reported £6million fee, where he has gone from strength to strength and continues to be a success.
Brendan Rodgers praised the 27-year-old’s mentality after he scored an own goal in a Champions League meeting with Club Brugge earlier this season.
“Mistakes happen and it was just unfortunate,” Rodgers was quoted as saying by the Independent.
“He’s played that pass a million times and it’s gone back and then we’ve been able to play forward. It was just one of those unfortunate moments in the game that happens.
“But he’s a really, really tough character. He’s a great guy, he picked himself up.
“He was really strong and aggressive again in the game and got on with it and had a real bravery in the second half, because he was the one carrying the ball forward for us to start the attack.”
Carter-Vickers has three Scottish Premiership titles, two Scottish Cups and three Scottish League Cups to his name, all of which have come in the 2020s.
In addition, the USMNT defender has won 18 caps for his nation, played at the 2022 World Cup, and lifted the CONCACAF Nations League last year.
With Celtic 16 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, it looks like Carter-Vickers could soon be lifting his 10th trophy of the decade in the coming months.
