Waugh shared what he’s heard from people within Newcastle about Isak and his personality.
According to the journalist, Isak handles himself very well behind the scenes, blending professionalism with friendliness very well.
“The way that he handles himself, I was present last year, at the start of last year, when Alan Shearer interviewed Alexander Isak for The Athletic. And you speak to people in and around Newcastle and ask them about Isak. And he’s sort of like, he’s a very laid back character, but at the same time, he’s also massively driven,” Waugh said.
“He’s sort of hard to define. And I think that comes across. And so there is that very cold and calculated way he can finish on the pitch.
“But at the same time, he doesn’t take things too seriously necessarily. He isn’t someone who, as Jacob says, gets too high or low. He isn’t overly emotional, but he is extremely driven and he wants to be the best.”

Waugh says that Isak is an incredibly driven player who wants to be the best, and that shows in his performances.
