Head-to-head record

Previous meetings: 126
Leicester wins: 28
Draws: 35
Chelsea wins: 63

A familiar fixture in English football ever since the inaugural meeting in 1905 – a Division Two contest won 1-0 by Chelsea – Leicester City and the Blues have now crossed paths on 126 occasions in all tournaments.

Unsurprisingly, the West London giants lead the way in terms of victories, prevailing on 63 occasions compared to 28 successes for the 2015-16 Premier League champions, and 35 of their other showdowns have ended in an even split of the spoils.

Leicester’s most recent triumph over Chelsea was a momentous one, as they bested the Blues in the final of the 2020-21 FA Cup thanks to a Youri Tielemans thunderbolt, but their capital counterparts have avenged that Wembley heartbreak several times since then.

Indeed, Chelsea are currently on a seven-match unbeaten run against the Foxes in all competitions, winning six times in that sequence, with their one aberration being a 1-1 Premier League draw at Stamford Bridge in May 2022.

With Graham Potter in charge, Chelsea triumphed twice over Leicester in the 2022-23 Premier League season; their 3-1 success at the King Power that year was actually Potter’s final victory at the helm before he was relieved of his duties.

The Blues’ two wins that season helped relegate Leicester, although Maresca did pit his wits against his current employers in the FA Cup quarter-finals in the 2023-24 campaign, where Chelsea prevailed 4-2 in a six-goal Stamford Bridge spectacular before also earning a 2-1 top-flight success in November 2024.

Nevertheless, Leicester’s recent consolation efforts mean that they have only failed to score in one of their last nine matches with Chelsea in all competitions, and they beat the Blues at home in the Premier League as recently as January 2021.

Chelsea legends dominate the individual scorers column in this particular head-to-head; no player has more than Peter Osgood‘s eight in matches between the Blues and the Foxes, while Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Bobby Tambling both struck five for the West London titans against Leicester.
