Leicester lineup vs. Chelsea: Predicted XI for the Foxes’ tricky Premier League away day

Leicester City supporters will hope to see Stephy Mavididi handed a rare start when they go to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday.

Mavididi has not started any of the last six matches, in which four have seen the Foxes fail to score, with many crying out for the winger to be given more time on the pitch.

There were notable cheers when Mavididi replaced Bobby De Cordova-Reid in the 4-0 defeat at home to Brentford, but despite that, he was still only a substitute in the 2-0 loss at West Ham a few days later.

Manager Ruud van Nistelrooy did bring Facundo Buonanotte into the team in place of the more cautious Jordan Ayew at the London Stadium, and the Leicester boss could now go full throttle in attack with their chances of survival shrinking week-by-week.

That attack should include the evergreen Jamie Vardy, who did net in the win over Tottenham Hotspur in January, but that is his only goal in the league since the start of December, and Chelsea have rarely been fruitful opponents for him, with just four goals in 22 career appearances.

There are similar problems in defence where Leicester are without a clean sheet in 23 matches, and rotation at centre-back has been commonplace under Van Nistelrooy.

Caleb Okoli dropped to bench against West Ham following his dismal showing against Brentford, but Jannik Vestergaard has hardly been a popular alternative, and he scored an own goal against the Hammers last time out.

Conor Coady has played fewer and fewer minutes in recent weeks, with Wout Faes seemingly the only centre-back guaranteed a start at present.

On the injury list, Ricardo Pereira and Abdul Fatawu remain the only two players out, both with long-term issues that have seen them miss the past few months.

Leicester City possible starting lineup:
Hermansen; Justin, Faes, Vestergaard, Kristiansen; Ndidi, Soumare; Buonanotte, El Khannouss, Mavididi; Vardy
