Tottenham Hotspur have several mistakes to rectify when they welcome Bournemouth to North London for Sunday’s Premier League battle.
Ange Postecoglou‘s men have fallen to back-to-back 1-0 defeats over the past couple of weeks, firstly to Manchester City in the Premier League and most recently to AZ Alkmaar in the first leg of their Europa League last-16 contest.
Skipper Son Heung-min was among the many Tottenham players who did not cover themselves in glory during the latter loss in the Netherlands, but the South Korea international has made a habit of picking off the Cherries in recent times.
Ahead of Sunday’s intriguing Premier League clash, Sports Mole takes a closer look at Son Heung-min’s record against the Cherries.

Since first appearing against Bournemouth in the 2016-17 Premier League season, Son Heung-min has registered nine direct involvements from 13 previous matches against the Cherries, seven of his own and two assists.
The Tottenham Hotspur captain has also come out on the winning side in eight of those fixtures, suffering three defeats and playing out two draws, and one of those losses came at the Vitality Stadium as recently as December 2024.
Son was only a second-half substitute in that reverse to Andoni Iraola‘s side, though, prior to which he struck his seventh and most recent goal over Bournemouth in Spurs’ 3-1 home win in the 2023-24 campaign.
The ex-Bayer Leverkusen man was also on target in Spurs’ gut-wrenching 3-2 home defeat during the 2022-23 top-flight season, prior to which he produced a few standout displays against Bournemouth rather than several consistent ones.
Indeed, Son registered two assists versus the Cherries for Dele Alli and Moussa Sissoko in the 2019-20 campaign, while also netting back-to-back braces in this fixture March 2018 and Boxing Day 2018.
The South Korean’s first strike against Bournemouth came in just his second appearance against them in April 2017, as he did not play a single minute in this fixture during his debut campaign in 2015-16, missing one game with a foot injury and being an unused substitute in the other.
On a more negative note, Bournemouth are just one of four teams – alongside Everton, Chelsea and Magdeburg – that Son has been sent off against, as he was given his marching orders in a 1-0 May 2019 defeat for pushing Jefferson Lerma in the chest.
