The Tottenham Hotspur board has kept faith in Ange Postecoglou this season despite things not going to plan on the pitch.
However, it looks as though the Tottenham hierarchy’s patience may be starting to wear thin with the coach.
TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has confirmed that Tottenham have told Postecoglou that their 1-0 loss to AZ in the Europa League was unacceptable.
Whilst the club have not told Postecoglou that he will be sacked if he does not win the Europa League, the last-16 first-leg loss has rocked the club.
Tottenham have also done work on possible alternatives, including Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola, Brentford’s Thomas Frank and Fulham’s Marco Silva.
Another name appreciated by the North London club is Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna.
TBR Football has been told that the one-time Spurs youth player and former coach should not be ruled out of contention.
Postecoglou has already given his verdict on McKenna from the games Tottenham played against Ipswich this season.

Ange Postecoglou said Kieran McKenna has done an ‘unbelievable job’ at Ipswich
Postecoglou praised McKenna ahead of Tottenham’s meeting with Ipswich in November, talking about what a great job the young manager has done at Portman Road.
“Every league game has the potential to hurt you if you’re not at your best,” Postecoglou told the Spurs website. “Ipswich will be no different.
“I think Kieran McKenna has done an unbelievable job since he’s been there and I think they continue to grow.
“It’s always harder for clubs who get promoted who haven’t gone down and got the benefit of parachute payments.
“He’s got them competitive and I think they have been competitive in just about every game this year which is a credit to him and his players.
“We’re expecting a tough one at the weekend, as we do every week, but our form particularly at home has been pretty strong this year and we want to continue that.”
What Ange Postecoglou said about Ipswich under Kieran McKenna after recent Spurs win
Ipswich ended up winning 2-1 at Tottenham, though Spurs made amends when they won 4-1 at Portman Road in February.
Postecoglou told the Tottenham website after the latter match: “We had to work hard today, we knew we’d have to work hard.
“Ipswich are one of the hardest working teams in the league. At home, they’re fighting for every point.
“I thought they started really well in the opening 10-15 minutes with the energy in the stadium, but I thought we did the hard things really well.”
