He wishes for the team to not pay heed to criticism and to focus on what’s next.
Bayern Munich’s 125th birthday was soured by a 2-3 loss at home to VfL Bochum. The latter put up a good fight against a rather lackluster Bayern, whose woes began with a missed penalty by Serge Gnabry, followed by João Palhinha’s red card. The exceptional brace by Raphaël Guerreiro and a solid performance by Thomas Müller were not enough as the Bavarians were overrun by goals from Jakov Medić, Ibrahima Sissoko, and Matúš Bero.
Manager Vincent Kompany was unfazed by the loss.
“We lost, no excuses,” Kompany said in comments captured via @iMiaSanMia. “We can analyze as much as we want, but in the end we have to take responsibility for everything and make sure we build towards our next game. So far we always reacted well [to defeats].
“It’s important to accept there will be criticism but we have to focus on the reaction in our next game.”
On the topic of Bayer Leverkusen’s 2-0 loss to Werder Bremen, Kompany proclaimed that he does not care. The Bavarians are slated to face Leverkusen at the BayArena on Tuesday in the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16.
