Forget about this game, onto Leverkusen.
Initial reactions and Observations
- First home loss to Bochum since 1991, that was round the time where Bayern finished 15th in the league. This was rough. For context. Thomas Muller was two years old then.
- Jonas Urbig kept Bayern in the game with his numerous saves. He’s had a great game despite the three goals conceded; the defence and the absolutely horrendous officiating let him down.
- Leverkusen got a taste of their own medicine and let in a late goal to lose 2-0 at home to Werder Bremen. So this result doesn’t really matter that much.
That’s all for now, folks! Thanks a bunch for staying to the end. You need not worry about this result because Leverkusen dropped points, and Bayern take them on next in the second leg of the Champions League. Let’s look forward to that instead. Again, thank you for sticking around, speak to you in a bit 🙂

90+6’ — Fulltime.
90’ — Five minutes to grab a draw.
71’ — Goal. Bayern fall behind when they should’ve gotten a penalty. From bad to worse.
62’ — Kompany subs on Harry Kane, Jamal Musiala, Konrad Laimer, and Michael Olise. Full steam ahead.
51’ — Goal. Bochum equalize. It’s not looking good, brev.
45’ — Second half is underway!
Halftime Observations
- Pretty routine game from Bayern so far. Raphael Guerreiro popping up with a brace is unexpected but very much welcome. Apart from Bochum getting a goal, not much has happened.
- Then again, that red card for Joao Palhinha is highly debatable. Don’t let it cloud your judgment of him. That was a terrible call from the referee.
- In other news, Leverkusen is losing to Werder Bremen.
45+4’ — Halftime.
43’ — Joao Palhinha receives a highly questionable red card, which reduces Bayern down to 10 men.
30’ — Goal. Bochum grab one back.
28’ — TOR! Bayern’s lead extends to two goals as Guerreiro finishes off a series of headers inside the Bochum box.
21’ — Bayern win a penalty but Serge Gnabry hits the post and goes back into play.
14’ — TOR! Serge Gnabry makes a run into the box and gets brought down, but Raphael Guerreiro picks up the loose ball and smashes the ball home for 1-0!
Kickoff! — It’s whistles out and away we go!
Lineups are out! Vincent Kompany has indeed made some adjustments from the winning team against Leverkusen. Jonas Urbig, Sacha Boey, Thomas Müller, and João Palhinha all start this game, while Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala see the bench for now.

Bayern Munich welcome their mates Bochum for a Bundesliga matchup. The Bavarians are fresh off a resounding 3-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League, whom they will play against after this Bochum game. Rotation will be a point of interest here as Vincent Kompany will try to balance things out without forsaking the momentum the team has at the moment.
Bochum on the other hand is currently sitting in the relegation play-off spot and they definitely won’t mind taking points off their friends. Despite being an easy team on paper, Bayern know all too well what happens if they aren’t careful enough.
Bayern lead the league with 61 points (19-4-1) while Bochum is sat on 17 points (4-5-15).
It’s Bayern time.
