That did not go as planned…

Bayern Munich was unexpectedly felled by VfL Bochum 3-2 in a match that was marred by a debatable first half red card to midfielder João Palhinha.

There were a lot of positives to ponder — a good rotation from Vincent Kompany, a solid effort from Jonas Urbig, some quality chances created. Obviously, the negatives ruled the day, starting with the red card, a crucial missed penalty from Serge Gnabry, some other missed opportunities that could have alleviated some unnecessary scrambling from Vincent Kompany. The manager seemingly panicked and brought some regular starters off the bench in what would ultimately amount to be a futile effort.

BFW Community…tell us how you rate Bayern Munich’s performance on a scale of 1.00 (lowest) to 10.00 (highest). I’ve got them at 6.00/10.00. It was not a crushing loss in the standings or for morale — and it did give us a chance to see what a heavy rotation would look like before the red card sent the game into a downward spiral. The big points were subtracted for the red card, the missed PK, some other missed chances, and some disorganized positioning at time.

There was no issue with effort or intensity, just some poor decision-making and execution on the field and from the bench. In football, those things just tend to happen sometimes.
