Gary Neville has been slammed for his commentary after Manchester United took the lead against Arsenal through a sensational Bruno Fernandes free-kick.
Against the run of play, Fernandes fired United ahead just before half-time with a stunning dead-ball effort past David Raya after Alejandro Garnacho was fouled outside the box.
The United skipper produced an exquisite effort combining power and accuracy to beat Raya, who couldn’t get across quick enough to keep out the fine strike.
Neville was on commentary but did not focus on the wonderful bit of quality instead taking issue with Arsenal’s wall – which he felt was too far back and made it easy for Fernandes to score.
And United fans took issue with his comments, taking to X to criticise the Sky Sports pundit.
One said: “Can Gary Neville not give Bruno any credit? All he’s talking about is the Arsenal wall.”
Another wrote: “Fair play to Gary Neville blaming the wall when David Raya gave Bruno half the goal to aim at.”
A third added: “Gary Neville watched that glorious free kick in front of the Stretford End and his immediate thought was the distance of Arsenal’s wall. Feels like Gary needs a break from football.
A fourth stated: “Bruno scores a Cristiano Ronaldo-level free kick and Gary Neville questions how far back the wall was. I swear he never played for us.”
A fifth fumed: “All Gary Neville can say is the wall was too far back!! Seriously have a day off!!”
