Djed Spence’s recent performances have earned him huge praise with his turnaround in North London being quite remarkable.

Spence has gone from being unwanted by Postecoglou to now becoming one of the 59-year-old’s best performers at Tottenham this season.

Gary Lineker has tipped Spence to make the England squad and the defender is likely in strong contention to be selected for World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia.

Djed Spence ‘looking forward’ to potential first England call-up

Djed Spence has admitted that he is ‘looking forward’ to the possibility of being called up to Thomas Tuchel’s squad for England games later this month.

Tuchel is due to name his first Three Lions squad on March 14 and the Tottenham Hotspur defender is dreaming about receiving his first cap for the national team.

However, should other players be picked ahead of him, Spence insists he will continue to work hard to keep improving and impressing like he currently is for Spurs.

Spence told Football.London: “Who doesn’t want to play for their country? That’s something I’m looking forward to. If I get called up, happy days, if I don’t, I’ll just keep working hard.

“I haven’t heard from anyone. I’m just focusing on right now, I just want to keep playing well and help the team to win games.”

Who is Djed Spence’s biggest competition for England call-up?

One of the strongest names under consideration was Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall, however, the defender has suffered an unfortunate foot injury.

Myles Lewis-Skelly who has impressed Tuchel and is also being strongly considered for a call-up following his remarkable emergence at the Emirates Stadium this season.

But one thing which stands Spence in great stead is the fact that he can play on either side, which could make him an attractive option to Tuchel.
