The Georgian midfielder, who supposedly turned down a move to the Reds, made the switch from Napoli to PSG six months later. Kvaratskhelia shone in PSG’s encounter with Liverpool in Paris, but was thwarted by Liverpool’s exceptional goalkeeper Alisson, who pulled off numerous crucial saves.

Despite PSG’s dominance, Liverpool clinched a vital 1-0 victory thanks to a late strike from Harvey Elliott, putting them in pole position to advance to the quarter-finals.

However, Kvaratskhelia remains optimistic about the return fixture at Anfield, stating: “We had so many opportunities to score in the first game and were the better team. It was disappointing to lose but we have to prepare ourselves properly for the second game.

“Liverpool are a good team and Anfield is a good ground for them. But we can take a lot of confidence from the way we played and if we are the same in the second game then I think we will score the goals we need.”

Since his January transfer to PSG from Naples, Kvaratskhelia has been impressive, contributing two goals and three assists in 11 matches. Luis Enrique concurred with the notion that PSG can approach the Anfield match with confidence, asserting that his team will employ the same strategy after enjoying significant ball possession.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia didn’t have his way against Liverpool

Post-match, he stated: “We have nothing to lose if we manage to repeat the same way we played today. It will be very aggressive in terms of the atmosphere in their stadium. However, we are just a team that has got nothing to lose. We will go to Liverpool and play exactly as we did today.

“Today it wasn’t about details, Alisson had an amazing game. They only play like that against us because we didn’t let them play. In the first five minutes they played better than us, but only for that. Then it was all about PSG. Nobody saw anything else tonight. One team was above the other, we all saw that. Is the result fair? No, the result is not fair.”
