Mohamed Salah‘s remarkable 2024-25 season continued on Saturday afternoon as the talismanic Liverpool forward scored twice from the penalty spot to propel the champions-elect to a 3-1 victory over bottom-of-the-table Southampton at Anfield.
The brace not only helped to send Arne Slot‘s side 16 points clear at the top of the table, it also saw Salah score his 183rd and 184th goals in the Premier League.
The Egyptian is now third in Liverpool’s all-time top-scorer list, joint-fifth on the all-time list of top Premier League goalscorers, and his double against Southampton saw him move joint-first in terms of foreign players with the most goals in the competition.
That was just the latest incredible record to tumble in a campaign which looks set to be arguably the greatest individual one ever seen in the Premier League, and the fact that no overseas player has ever scored more goals in the competition than Salah only strengthens his argument of being the division’s best import – and one of its best-ever players.
