Ange Postecoglou remains a big fan of one of Tottenham Hotspur’s players whose performance levels have dipped over recent months, but against Bournemouth he really impressed.
Tottenham Hotspur came from two goals down to salvage a point at home to Bournemouth as two sides drew 2-2 in North London.
Spurs fans had to endure one of their worst first-half performances under Ange Postecoglou, however, things changed in the second 45 minutes and they managed to rescue a point.
There was one player for Tottenham who particularly impressed in the second half and produced a display which will have provided Postecoglou with much encouragement.
Ange Postecoglou remains a big fan of Pape Matar Sarr
Ange Postecoglou still ‘really likes’ Pape Matar Sarr, according to Alasdair Gold, who produced a promising performance against Bournemouth.
Sarr’s levels have dropped over recent months and subsequently, the 22-year-old has been in and out of the team. However, Sarr, who cost £14m, has shown huge promise on many occasions in North London and it’s clear that he has an exciting future ahead of him.
Gold told his YouTube channel: “People forget about Sarr, Sarr’s only 22, he’s got so much more growth to come from his game. He’s an AFCON winner despite being young.
“Just at Spurs he put in some big displays, some big goals, big moments against big teams. He’s got six goals and two assists this season. He needs to find a bit of consistency with his technique but there is so much there to work with. Coaches must love him.
“Postecoglou really likes him. He raved about him within the first couple of weeks of joining Spurs and I think it’s because he’s a bit of a blank canvas to work with. He’s got a bit of everything, you’ve just got to mould him into whatever you want him to be.”
Pape Matar Sarr’s extraordinary goal vs Bournemouth
Sarr produced a rather extraordinary goal versus Bournemouth to kick start Spurs’ second half revival at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The midfielder managed to loop his effort over the head of Kepa Arrizabalaga which struck the inside of the post before nestling in the back of the net.
The 22-year-old has now scored six times this season, proving his well-rounded ability.
