Arsenal lineup vs. PSV: Predicted XI for Champions League clash as Mikel Arteta goes experimental

Arsenal right-back Ben White could be in line for his first start of 2025 when the Gunners host PSV Eindhoven in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 clash on Wednesday night.

Mikel Arteta‘s side are all but through to the quarter-finals after demolishing the Rood-Witten 7-1 last week, and the Arsenal boss will surely take this opportunity to rotate before the weekend’s Premier League clash with Chelsea.

As Jurrien Timber will miss the first leg of the last-eight clash with either Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid if he is booked, White starting at right-back seems an obvious choice for Arteta, who could make sweeping changes all over the field.

William Saliba may be the only defensive starter from Sunday’s 1-1 Premier League draw with Manchester United to reprise their role, as Oleksandr Zinchenko, Jakub Kiwior and second-choice goalkeeper Neto come into the fray.

Jorginho will almost certainly come in for Thomas Partey in the number six position, but a lack of midfield alternatives means that Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice will likely hold their places.

Ethan Nwaneri is an alternative to Odegaard in the number 10 role, but the 17-year-old has played a lot of football in recent weeks, and Arteta may therefore want to give him a well-earned rest here.

Instead, Raheem Sterling could start on the right-hand side, while Kieran Tierney is a wild card option on the left wing; the Scotland international was selected over Sterling to come off the bench at Old Trafford.

Mikel Merino may also be dropped as Leandro Trossard operates through the centre; Gabriel Martinelli is back from a hamstring injury but might not be risked given he is also one yellow away from a ban.

Arsenal possible starting lineup:
Neto; White, Saliba, Kiwior, Zinchenko; Odegaard, Jorginho, Rice; Sterling, Trossard, Tierney
