Interesting hire if you ask me…
Philipp Lahm is a Bayern Munich legend who played for the club from 1995 to 2017, with a brief spell at VfB Stuttgart from 2003 to 2005 in between. Before he retired as a player, he was offered a job as sporting director but turned it down. The former right-back recently went out and said that he can imagine working for his old club, something that the current brass does not oppose:
“Philipp Lahm is a Bayern legend and a world champion. If he wants to get more involved with FC Bayern and get closer to the club, we can always talk,” club president Herbert Hainer said (as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia).
Lahm has been busy with other business ventures during his post-playing career. Most notably, he was ambassador of EURO 2024 as Germany hosted the tournament last year. Seeing Lahm back where it all began would be certainly raise eyebrows, but in a good way.
