Man Utd star branded the ‘worst player the club has ever had’ after draw against Arsenal

Rory Jennings has branded one Manchester United star as the ‘worst player the club has ever had’ during a damning assessment.

United welcomed rivals Arsenal to Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon for a mouth-watering Premier League clash.

Heading into the match, Mikel Arteta’s men knew they had to win after Liverpool beat Southampton on Saturday to stretch their lead at the top of the table to 16 points.

However, United stunned the Gunners after Bruno Fernandes scored a free-kick in first-half stoppage time.

Declan Rice equalised in the 74th minute but the visitors failed to find a winner as the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

In truth, United could have won it, Rasmus Hojlund had two big chances to score before David Raya produced a stunning save to deny Fernandes right at the death.

Taking to social media, talkSPORT’s Jennings delivered a scathing assessment on Hojlund as the Dane continues to struggle at United.

He wrote: “In other news, Rasmus Hojlund is the worst player to have ever played for Manchester United. Ever.

“It’s pitifully bad. So out of his depth. I should detest the Manchester United striker but instead I find myself feeling sorry for him. Not convinced he’d get a game at QPR.”

So far in the 24/25 season, Hojlund, 22, has only managed seven goals and one assist in 37 appearances across all competitions.

The Dane was also dropped to the bench for the match against Arsenal, with Christian Eriksen coming into the starting XI.

When asked why Hojlund was dropped, Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim stated it was down to squad rotation.

He said: “It is the rotation of the team; we need a fresh team to face all the games. He has the quality to have possession.

“He is really strong near the box, he can shoot, he can score and we try to use different players in different games.”

Amorim added: “His freshness. I think he was really fatigued at the end of the game (vs Sociedad). We try different things.

“We know the opposition’s centre-backs, we know what they think and what they like, and we try different things to surprise the opponent.”
