Peter Schmeichel was seen comforting Rasmus Hojlund outside Old Trafford with the Manchester United forward struggling once again.
They met after the Red Devils’ 1-1 draw against Arsenal, a match which saw Hojlund miss a golden chance to win it in his 14-minute cameo.
A fan captured the moment the two Danish men embraced each other with Schmeichel patting Hojlund’s shoulders and later hugging him. It’s not clear what was said between the two.
Since Hojlund joined Man United in August 2023 it has been a bumpy road for him.
He arrived from Italian side Atalanta for £72 million – but he’s hugely struggled to justify the hefty price tag.
In 80 appearances for Man United, Hojlund has scored 23 goals and assisted three.
Meanwhile, only two of his seven goals this season have been in the Premier League.
Thanks to Bruno Fernandes’ free kick, Ruben Amorim’s side led the match, however, Declan Rice equalised in the 74th minute to ensure the spoils were shared.
Hojlund came on in the 76th minute and could’ve been the hero, but failed to make his moment in front of goal count.
He received a loose ball on the edge of the box but wanted too much time, allowing Rice to make a heroic last-ditch tackle before he took the shot.
Advising Hojlund on his goalscoring woes, Man United’s record goalscorer Wayne Rooney said: “A striker for Manchester United, when you’re not scoring goals, there’s a lot of pressure, a lot of people talking about you.
“Can you do it for Manchester United? I think the best thing to do is simplify it and obviously making the runs into penalty boxes is as easy as it comes – you have to make them runs.

“But simplifying the game, getting the ball, laying it off, getting in the box, getting the ball out wide, getting in the penalty box, putting yourself in the best position to score goals.
He added: “Nine times out of ten you’re relying on your teammates to give you chances and put the ball in the box or slide balls in behind.
“Maybe he hasn’t been doing that – he hasn’t been getting that service of late. But I’ve got faith in him.”
“I think he is a good player and he works hard. I think that’s really important as well,” Rooney continued.
“I think he just needs that goal and once he gets it, they’ll all start coming.”
