Arsenal are set to give Liverpool a Guard of Honour at Anfield on Saturday 10th May – barring a shock collapse by the Reds.
Arne Slot now sits 15 points ahead of Mikel Arteta after Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw at Manchester United on Sunday, meaning Liverpool could win the Premier League title as soon as April 20th.

If that does happen, Arsenal – along with Brighton, Tottenham, Chelsea and Crystal Palace – will have to give Liverpool a Guard of Honour, something the Gunners already did during the 2019/20 campaign when the Reds won the Premier League title very early.
After that specific Guard of Honour at the Emirates Stadium, a shock occurred which Arteta will hope to see a repeat of.
How Arsenal shocked Liverpool after 2020 Guard of Honour
Judging by the grin on the face of Virgil van Dijk and some others, Liverpool must have felt pretty good about themselves when Arsenal players lined up to applaud them in July 2020.

This feeling of confidence was translated onto the pitch as Liverpool registered 24 shots – eight of which were on target – and 69% of the possession, while also making 614 passes to just 286 by Arsenal.
However, despite the Gunners recording only three shots, with two on target, Arsenal emerged victorious by a surprise 2-1 scoreline, thanks to goals from Alexandre Lacazette and Reiss Nelson.
What Bernardo Silva did during Manchester City’s Guard of Honour for Liverpool
In fairness to Arsenal – who could sign Dusan Vlahovic – at least every player respected the Guard of Honour.
When Manchester City were made to applaud Liverpool in July 2020, Bernardo Silva opted not to clap, and even walked away from the lineup prematurely.
Some Arsenal players may want to do likewise – seeing as Liverpool spoiled their title hopes in a season where Manchester City could even fail to finish in the top four – but hopefully, the Guard of Honour is respected in a professional manner, should one happen this term.
