After what happened last year…the club needs to rebuild and earn its place at the top of Europe again
Bayern Munich’s recent record in the Champions League has been sub-par, for the club’s high standards.
Ever since winning the competition in 2020, the club has reached the quarterfinals thrice and the semifinals just once. This setback in Europe resulted in a frustrating, trophyless 2023/24 season that made it clear the club was trending in the wrong direction. Looking to trend into the right direction again, with Vincent Kompany as head coach, the Bavarians retain a comfortable lead at the top of the table at the time of writing.
But after an unconvincing Champions League league phase and a third round exit in the DFB-Pokal, are the season’s goals being met adequately?
Legendary former CEO and current supervisory board member Uli Hoeneß knows to value the league title.
“I think and hope that we will take back the league title. It would be a wonderful gift for the 125th anniversary,” Hoeneß said, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “There’s too much talk about the Champions League for me after the difficult 2023/24 season. The league would mean a lot to me.”
