Passing of the baton?
When perusing Bayern Munich’s roster, there are several players at 25-years-old or younger, who could play massive role in the club’s future.
Alphonso Davies, Aleksandar Pavlović, Jamal Musiala, Jonas Urbig, Hiroki Itō, Tom Bischof (arriving in the summer from Hoffenheim), and Josip Stanišić could be key players for Bayern Munich moving forward. Knowing this, Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany wants to see each continue to develop and wants to help push the players to maximize their respective talent.
“Every great club has not just got guys who are performing now, but long-term ideas. You must have succession [plans] and have the next players who are going to carry the identity and DNA of the club. You’ve mentioned two players, and you can see the impact they are already having on the pitch. I think they are going to become better and when the current leaders eventually pass the guard, it will be for them as well [to step up],” Kompany.
Many of the aforementioned players are starting to see increased role. With Musiala, Pavlović, and Davies already being regular starters, the groups is well-represented on the squad. Now, the key will be to see if they can take the baton from the club’s established veterans and begin to really shape Bayern Munich’s next generation.
