Liverpool’s quest for UEFA Champions League glory continues as Arne Slot’s side take on Paris Saint-Germain at Anfield in what promises to be a riveting second leg of their last-16 encounter. The Reds hold a slender advantage, having eked out a dramatic 1-0 victory in the opening leg, courtesy of a late strike by young sensation Harvey Elliott.
Elliott was the hero in Paris as he came off the bench to find the net with his very first touch, which also happened to be Liverpool’s first attempt on goal. Despite this, PSG is far from down and out; the French giants boast formidable form heading into the rematch.
PSG boss Luis Enrique remains upbeat about his squad’s prospects, signalling his intent in a chat with Sky Sports: “Even though we’re trailing from the first leg we will be playing our own game from the outset. Regardless of the result (in Paris) we wouldn’t do anything different.”
“At the moment we are out so our only option is to go out and win and that is what is driving us. I’m not going to give away who we are going to play or how we are going to play but over the course of two games we will see two of the best teams in Europe, two contenders for the final and whoever goes through will go through to the final.”
The victors will go on to face either Aston Villa or Club Brugge in the quarter finals, with those two set to clash on Wednesday.
Liverpool vs PSG is slated to kick off at 8pm UK on Tuesday, March 11 (4pm ET/1pm PT). The encounter will be streamed live on Paramount+ for fans in the United States.
