Despite spending just three seasons at Manchester United, Robin van Persie is widely considered a Red Devils legend.
Leaving Arsenal to sign for Sir Alex Ferguson’s United side, Van Persie was brought in to help deliver the Premier League title and he instantly did in his debut season.
Robin van Persie had a season to remember in the 2012/2013 campaign as he scored 26 goals and provided nine assists in 35 league starts for Manchester United’s title-winning side.

In the season before as well, the Dutchman was outstanding for Arsenal as he provided 41 goal contributions (30 goals and 11 assists) in the league.
But unlike at the Emirates Stadium, Robin van Persie won his first and only Premier League title at Manchester United.
United had famously finished second behind Manchester City on goal difference the season before the legendary striker’s arrival while Arsenal were merely a top four side at the time.
Robin van Persie says Paul Scholes did things in training he’d never seen
Robin van Persie also played with superior players at Manchester United, with names such as Paul Scholes, Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand springing to mind.
But it was Scholes who caught Van Persie’s eye, especially in training as he had seen things from the Englishman that he had not from any player he had played with throughout his illustrious career.
Robin van Persie told the UEFA’s official YouTube channel: “I was able to play with him for just over a year. He had retired but then he came back and I played with him for a year.”
“At that time, he was 38 but he did things during training that I had never seen before. He would make passes that were so unbelievable that you would ask yourself how his brain would work so fast. That was Paul Scholes.”
Even Danny Welbeck claimed Paul Scholes was incredible in training and “10 steps ahead” of the rest.
While Wayne Rooney compared Scholes’ talent with Cristiano Ronaldo’s, which explains why the English midfielder stunned Robin van Persie in training as well.
What was Robin van Persie and Scholes’ record together?
The retired technician is remembered as one of the best players in British history.
Renowned for his remarkable range of passing, sublime technique and calmness on the ball, the 11-time Premier League winner was a rare profile of player for an Englishman at the time.
Paul Scholes was truly an enigma and alongside Robin van Persie, the pair were on the pitch 16 times for Manchester United.

Unsurprisingly, Van Persie and Scholes won a majority of the games (11) but drew three and lost two.
However, it is surprising that neither player assisted each other even once when they played together.
Manchester United supporters worldwide must deeply miss the glory days when stalwarts like Robin van Persie and Paul Scholes would play for them and run riot.
