Kingsley Coman’s injury record left us all worried, but it seems he is all right.
Bayern Munich’s match against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League went mostly to plan, with the Bavarians riding out some early pressure to drag the match into the mire and then catching their Bundesliga rivals out with two well timed strikes to end up with a 2-0 victory. Head coach Vincent Kompany’s plan worked, the players were all great and Bayern re-established their dominance in Germany. It was a virtually perfect match.
However, there was one serious concern. Kingsley Coman, who was given a rest over the weekend, left in the second half of the match with an apparent injury. Given the Frenchman’s infamously unfortunate injury record, some speculated it was bad.
But according to board member for sport Max Eberl, it was not that bad. “He said it’s nothing serious,” he noted after the match (as captured by @iMiaSanMia, via Az journalist Maximilian Koch).
That is good. With Bayern now firmly in the business end of the season, the club needs players to stay fit and firing.
