After Liverpool’s heart-wrenching Champions League exit, Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones have addressed their penalty misses against PSG. The Reds were edged out in a tense shootout with Gianluigi Donnarumma saving efforts from the pair.
Taking to social media, the duo expressed their resolve, with Nunez posting: “Get up and carry on, as always”. Jones shared a longer message on Instagram.
He wrote: “Stepping up and trying to help the team in every moment I can is the type of person that I am. This comes with risk and failing, last night I got a taste of that!
“I can live with missing but I can’t live without taking the responsibility. 10 to go. Starting with a cup final Sunday!”.
Their statements come after captain Virgil van Dijk rallied his teammates to shake off the setback and turn their focus to the upcoming Carabao Cup final against Newcastle. In his post-match interview with Amazon Prime, Van Dijk remarked on the rollercoaster encounter in Paris.
He said:”It was a very intense, great game of football, I think to be part of it as well,” and noted Liverpool’s squandered opportunities – asserting that, despite their exit, the quality of play was evident until penalties sealed their fate.

“It’s part of football, I said to the guys, obviously, you can be disappointed because we’re out of the competition, but chin up and get ready for the next challenge, a beautiful one on the weekend.
“I think we were pretty good today as well, and you want to go as far as possible, but we knew when we drew PSG it was going to be very difficult. We saw in Paris when we struggled but we won, and today we saw a very good Liverpool side but we’re out of the competition.
“Today from the first second, and then extra time when fatigue kicks in for both sides, it becomes more open but especially regular time, we showed a very good game. We can speak about the game for ages but we’re out of the competition, that is the reality”.
