A little more precision could have seen Musiala walk away with a hat trick.

Bayern Munich’s 2-0 victory completed the mission the German giants set out to do, squashing Bayer Leverkusen with a commanding 5-0 aggregate victory. But it could have been an even more impressive scoreline. Jamal Musiala had several great chances in the game and worked them well before…hitting the post. And hitting it again.

“It’s really annoying. I have to work more on that,” Musiala quipped afterwards in comments captured by @iMiaSanMia. “But we won the game, we move on.”

Fortunately, the team’s overall performance was still strong enough to deliver a comfortable victory.

“We prepared well,” Musiala continued. “We knew we had to deliver a top performance to advance. We played really well in both games and with intensity for 90 minutes. We have to do the same thing in the next round.”

Bayern will now face Inter Milan in the quarterfinals and hope to knock out the Italian champions in a rematch of the 2010 Champions League final.
