Bayern swept Leverkusen out of the way. Is official good news to follow on the heels?
Bayern Munich and Joshua Kimmich have reportedly reached an agreement this week on a new deal that would keep the star midfielder in Bavaria through the 2028/29 season — but an official announcement is still pending.
At least the ball is now rolling. Board member for sport Max Eberl joked this week that “the ball is now in the air” and that both parties needed now to catch it. Kimmich continued with the metaphor after Bayern’s 5-0 aggregate triumph over Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League Round of 16 on Tuesday.
“There will be a decision in the next few days. Now we want to get the ball over the line together,” Kimmich said after the match (via Az journalist Maximilian Koch, as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Come on Bayern and Joshua. Time to knock this ball out of the park.
