Marcus Rashford had no doubts when asked to name the one team that he hates more than any others.
Having grown up playing for Manchester United’s academy, Rashford will have learned plenty about the club’s historic rivalries with clubs like Liverpool, Leeds United and Manchester City.
The Englishman has gone on to have the chance to play for his boyhood club against all three of their closest rivals and has therefore clearly become personally invested in them.
However, when he was asked which of the clubs he hated the most, Rashford had no doubts.
Although Rashford is currently on loan with Aston Villa having seemingly fallen out with current united manager Ruben Amorim, he has previously made it clear that he has a bitter disliking towards one of the Red Devils’ biggest rivals.
When appearing on the Uninterrupted podcast back in July 2022, the England international was asked if there were any teams he ‘hated,’ and Rashford didn’t hold back.
“Yeah Liverpool. I don’t like Liverpool. City,” Rashford said, picking the rather obvious duo.
“Liverpool have history so it’s a bit more bitter. But with City it’s like you don’t like them, but you don’t have a massive reason not to like them.”
Given the fact that the 27-year-old grew up in Manchester, it is perhaps surprising that Rashford’s feelings towards local rivals City appear to be so neutral.
However, in an interview with United legend Gary Neville a year later, the Aston Villa star further explained why he favours Pep Guardiola’s side to Liverpool.
“Who do you dislike more? Liverpool or Man City,” asked Neville when speaking with Rashford on The Overlap.
“Liverpool. I don’t like any of them. I dislike Liverpool more,” replied the United winger.
Neville added: “It’s interesting that because I am Liverpool. But then, if you speak to Scholesy (Paul Scholes) or Butty (Nicky Butt), they say ‘City’.”
“Why is that,” asked a surprised Rashford.

Neville replied: “I don’t know. I just thought it was them growing up nearer to Manchester. You are (also) Manchester.”
Rashford then added: “No, it’s Liverpool all day.”
The English winger will be back in action on Wednesday night as Aston Villa host Belgian side Club Brugge for the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 clash.
