Martin Keown has been naming who he believes are the five greatest Arsenal players of all-time.

Keown played with some remarkable players at Arsenal as he was a part of some incredible teams under both George Graham and Arsene Wenger.

Speaking to TNT Sports, Martin Keown has named who he believes are the five greatest Arsenal players of all-time.

The pundit’s choices were rather straightforward, as he picked five bona fide Gunners legends.

However, perhaps what is more interesting is the players who just missed out on Keown’s list.

Indeed, Keown says that there are a few players who just missed out, including a striker Arsenal paid just £500,000 to sign.

Nicolas Anelka is one of Arsenal’s best players ever

Keown picked his top five Arsenal players, and he also gave out some honourable mentions.

Keown said that Liam Brady could have made his list, while Marc Overmars was another option.

Bukayo Saka has been compared to Overmars in the past, so that is a testament to the Dutchman’s ability.

Meanwhile, Keown also said that Nicolas Anelka could be considered one of the greatest Arsenal players ever, claiming that he was remarkable when he was at Highbury.

“I could have gone for someone like Liam Brady, Marc Overmars or even Nicolas Aneka, I thought he was just remarkable, but I’m going to go with the five I said, five great players who played for Arsenal,” Keown said.

Nicolas Anelka may be more famous for his exploits at Chelsea later in his career, but, make no mistake about it, Anelka was incredible during his time at Arsenal.

Anelka was only a young player during his time with the Gunners, but he was still an unreal attacking threat at that time.

Gary Neville said Anelka was frightening at Arsenal, while Martin Keown said Anelka could’ve been as good as Thierry Henry if he stayed at Arsenal.

Anelka’s stats in his final season for Arsenal were incredible, considering he was only 20 years old when he left the club.

There’s a reason Real Madrid would come calling for Anelka at Arsenal, and while Keown may be exaggerating a tad when he says the Frenchman is one of Arsenal’s best players ever, he’s certainly one of the most talented players to ever pull on the famous red shirt.
